Brass objects from a Swedish foundry that has worked on the same site since 1607.
About Skultuna
Skultuna was founded by King Karl IX of Sweden in 1607, and its brass foundry still stands on the same site more than four centuries later. The range covers candlesticks, bowls, vases, sconces and jewellery, mostly in solid brass, alongside steel and plated pieces. Contemporary design has been part of the company since the 1950s, when silversmith Pierre Forsell began working with the foundry, and that thread continues through collaborations with Ilse Crawford, Lisa Larson and Veermakers, as well as Moomin and Little Prince editions. Many pieces can be engraved, which suits a brand whose objects are made to last generations and are often bought as gifts.
Why it’s here
Few makers can claim four centuries in one location, and fewer still keep commissioning designers like Ilse Crawford and Pierre Forsell. The candlesticks and bowls are made to be passed down, and priced like it.
