Bohemian glass is the deepest craft tradition represented in this directory — centuries of it, and still the reference standard for hand-blown and cut work. Several contemporary Czech studios are working in that lineage without producing heritage pastiche, which is harder than it sounds.
The country also holds one of Europe's most complete surviving bodies of functionalist architecture, and the design that comes out of Prague and Brno tends to reflect it: geometric, unfussy, built rather than styled.
